What
do you want out of life? What is your
purpose in life anyway?
We
were all put on this earth for a purpose, and there are quite a few
people who have left there mark in this world long after they have
passed.
There
have been great inventors, artists, singers, authors, actors,
presidents and a whole host of others who became famous one
way or
the other. These people had a talent or an idea that they
just
'ran' with and with persistence and perseverance they accomplished what
they set out to do. It did not happen overnight for them,
they
faced challenges and obstacles in their quest for fame. As a
matter of fact, not all of them sought fame, they were just looking for
ways to improve their lives and those of others.
We
all have a part to play to improving our lives and those of others.
We were not put on this earth to hold down a job until
retirement. We are all destined to do great things.
What
does success mean to you? Is it having a lot of money?
Wealth does not necessarily define success. There
are those
who are wealthy but their lives are in a mess. You can see
examples of this in the entertainment industry. Young,
goodlooking, talented men and women who seem to have it made, but their
lives are being destroyed by their wrong decisions. What is
the
missing link in their lives?
To
truly understand what your purpose on this earth really means and what
you can do to make your life really worth living, you need to turn to
the most reliable source - God's word, the
Bible.
"All
scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and
to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens
us
out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God's way of
preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God
wants us to do". 2 Timothy 3:16.
How
do you know what God wants you to do?
"If
you need wisdom - If you want to know what God wants you to do - ask
him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your
asking.
But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to
answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that
is driven and tossed by the wind. People like this should not
expect to receive anything from the Lord. They can't make up
their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they
do."
James 1:5-8
